This year the Tiger Dublin Fringe celebrates its 21st birthday. In the spirit of celebrating their 21 years, the Festival has invited a group of 21 year olds to celebrate their 21st birthday as well. Fringe has handed them the keys to the festival, saying ‘Make! Create!’ where they’ll be surveying the group of 21 year olds who will live like lab rats in an installation.
The annual festival is welcoming back Spiegeltent who last appeared in 2009. Joining them in Wolfe Tone Square for a one off spectacular will be The Frames frontman Glen Hansard. Tony-nominated cabaret and drag artist Justin Vivian Bond will also join Hansard to perform the one-off show in the festival’s Spiegeltent.
Comedy fans will split their sides as David O’Doherty, Alison Spittle, Katie O’Brien, Abie Philbin Bowman and Conor O’Toole offer great laughs. Martin McSharry theatricalises a comedian having his worst day. And in a bit of a twist, comedy king Al Porter will be teaming up with the Swing Cats – a six piece swing band.
Music lovers will get to enjoy an array of great gigs in various venues across Dublin. The festival looks set to be an electrifying mix of avant garde performances. Tying it all together is where theatre, dance and performance meet. Enjoy the dizzy heights of cultural expression over this full packed entertaining 2 weeks.
