Whether it’s a beautiful warm summer’s day or a crisp winter morning, there’s no doubt that the Iveagh Gardens is one of Dublin’s little gems that has a wonderful feel like no other park in Dublin. The secret is out of the bag with this one, as these public gardens have certainly gained popularity over the last few years. During the summer months it acts as a picnic area for the many employees from the surrounding offices. For absolute pure bliss, visit the gardens on a mid-summer’s weekend in the evening. Whether you’re solo or with friends, the Iveagh Gardens serves as a mini city getaway. At just a 3 minute walk from the Camden Court Hotel, be sure to make this beautiful area part of your Dublin trip. Perfect for that romantic stroll.
The Iveagh Gardens open from 8:00am Monday to Saturday and from 10:00am on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Closing times depend on the season:
- December to January- 15:30
- February & November- 16:00
- March to October- 18:00
Admission to the Iveagh Gardens is FREE. The public garden includes rustic grottos, panels of beautifully kept lawn, numerous fountains, fantastic shrubbery and woodlands, a maze, rockeries, and a rosarium. These are subject to the season of course, but there’s always something of great beauty at all times of the year.
The Iveagh Gardens also hold concerts throughout the year. In the past, the beautiful venue has seen performances from artists such as Birdy and The National. 2015 is another exciting year for the Iveagh Gardens, with Damien Rice, St Vincent and more lined up to perform during the summer. A cinema with a difference! The Lighthouse Cinema is located in Smithfield, Dublin 7. Expect the unexpected with this cinema with a truly unique design and atmosphere. With a delicious café on the top floor, followed by a funky bar areas downstairs. You can even enjoy a board game or game of ping pong while you’re waiting for your film to be screened!
The Lighthouse Cinema proudly screens the best Irish and International films. The cinema is fond of screening the more ‘commercial art house’ films along with a selected number of the more mainstream films which you’d usually expect. Prices for The Lighthouse Cinema are surprisingly reasonable: Monday-Sunday before 5:00pm costs €7.50 (€6.00 for seniors/students) and after 5:00pm costs €9.00 (€7.50 for seniors/students).

Not everyone knows about Bark Café in Rathmines, but whoever has had the opportunity to visit this coffee shop is bound to mention the very cute and unique ambiance which this café presents to its guests. Not only that, the coffee is super and there’s always a delicious choice of tasty treats to satisfy any hungry belly! The staff are everything you could ask for- friendly and genuine; not to mention the mot friendly of them all-Barkthe bookshop dog!
Bark Café is located within the Alan Hanna’s Bookshop on Lower Rathmines Road. It opens from 9:30am to 6:00pm. Go on… Treat yourself! Just over a 10 minute walk from the Camden Court Hotel!
The Dublin Bay Hopper Tour
Love the sea? Love the beautiful Irish landscape? Love all things scenic in Dublin? Then be sure to check out the Dublin Bay Hopper Tour! This is a relatively new tour which is an ideal way to spend a Saturday; especially on a clear, fine day.
The price of this tour ticket (€19.00) is exceptionally good value considering you can jump on or off as many times as you wish throughout the day for as long as you wish. Why not enjoy a day of activities to include a walk on Sandymount strand, a picnic in Dun Laoghaire, and a visit to Sea Life in Bray- Ireland’s leading aquarium.

Pearse Street DART station is around a 20/25 minute walk from us at the Camden Court Hotel. For easy access, enjoy a scenic walk through St Stephen’s Green en route!
This is certainly one of Dublin’s best bits. Merrion Square Arthas been running since 1985 (that’s almost 30 years!) and now has nearly 200 artists exhibiting each weekend. The open-air art gallery opens from 10:00 to 18:00 at weekends. It’s the perfect place to walk through with the family or as a romantic stroll. The most beautiful of art is displayed around Merrion Square with much variety to be seen. Grab a coffee and enjoy- just a 10 minute walk from the Camden Court Hotel.
